FAQs

Compared with community or other SONiC versions, AsterNOS delivers tailored intelligent feature enhancement for DC, Enterprise and Edge environments, available via subscription to meet business needs. Additionally, extensive tuning for commercial H/W maximizes performance across diverse platforms

AsterNOS for Switches can run on merchant silicon-based platforms, such as Marvell,

AsterNOS for Routers can be installed on DPU or x86 with DPDK-Supported NICs. It also runs on major hypervisors, including KVM and VMware ESXi.

AsterNOS is available in two main release types: Latest Releases and Stable Releases.

Latest Releases are validated through automated test suites and are intended for testing, lab environments, and non-critical deployments. These versions may include new features that have not yet undergone extensive field validation. Configuration syntax and APIs may change between versions.

Stable Releases are branched quarterly from the latest release stream and incorporate only thoroughly validated and fully compatible changes. Configuration syntax and APIs remain consistent, making them ideal for production environments and enterprise users with strict stability and automation requirements.

We also provide a regularly updated release roadmap to help you plan ahead and stay informed of upcoming changes.

Yes, a 30-day trial is available, supporting deployment on physical devices and virtual machines.
